Dirty Tricks
A Thrilling Birthday
Dirty Tricks
The thrill of the hunt buzzed through David’s veins as he dashed behind a short concrete wall, taking cover. A projectile exploded on a tree where his head was a second ago. A few drops of the blue liquid landed on his cheek, fueling his desire to take down his opponent. He wiped away the reminder of how close he’d gotten to lose.
She was good. He had to give her that.
But now it was his turn to shoot. He checked his gun, making sure it was loaded, and shifted, taking a peek from his cover. Gazing over the field, he spotted her lying on the ground behind a log, aiming in his direction.
He couldn’t lose. He never did.
It was just the two of them. Everyone else was out. Some were even injured.
The faint smell of human blood lingered, awakening his hunger and making it difficult to keep his fangs hidden. It had to affect her too. There was no way she couldn’t smell it. Sadly for him, Adriana wasn’t a woman easily distracted. If he pondered too much about it, he’d be ashamed of how a young vampire like her had so much control and how he seemed to struggle at times despite being pure blood and half a millennium old.
But his age, his origins, or his powers didn’t matter now. He couldn’t use his speed. The downside of playing with humans. Even with the annoying fact that they bled so easily and it sent his senses to overdrive, it was a fun day. Not exactly how he imagined spending his birthday, but it was still fun and he’d have eternity to keep Adriana in his bed naked and burning with pleasure.
“Come on guys,” Alex shouted from the bench, paint dripping from his vest. “We’re starving here.”
David rolled his eyes. Perfectionism couldn’t be hurried. And he’d rather pierce his own heart with a stick than to let her win. No. He wouldn’t make this easy for her.
Without his speed, he was in an impossible situation. To take his shot, he needed to emerge, giving her the perfect target. And with her speed, she’d pull the trigger before he could aim.
Checking her position again, David calculated his options. If he ran just a tad faster than a human, he could get away with it and be behind the oak tree on his left before she shot him. From there, he’d have a better aim. She’d be forced to move, making herself vulnerable.
“You can’t make it.” Her voice was a whisper in the breeze, but even so, he heard the mocking smile in it.
“Watch me,” he whispered back.
Ten meters. Just slightly faster than a normal human. He could make it.
As he ran for the tree, he heard the shifting in the grass, the click of the trigger, and the moment the projectile was released.
He jumped, rolling behind the tree, but an ugly blue stain on his upper arm signaled his failure. The first one since they’d entered the paintball field.
Gritting his teeth, he ignored her chuckle. He’d win this game. He had to.
“Just give up, lover,” she whispered. “I’ll make it up for it later.”
“You know I can’t do that, Kitten.”
“Not even if I amp up your birthday present?”
Sitting with his back against the tree, David closed his eyes, trying to push down the images that had emerged in him, while willing his cock to behave. Adriana liked to play dirty. In and outside of the bedroom.
“You know I’m wearing the pink thong,” she purred in the breeze, further distracting him. “I can’t wait to see you take it off with your teeth. After I thanked you for today properly, of course.”
This wasn’t the time to imagine her lips on his body, or the delicious sounds she made while he fucked her senseless. Or that freaking sexy lace thong she’d bought as a birthday present for him.
This was the time to take her down.
He spun out of his cover and aimed, but he was too late. Adriana stood a few meters away, the paint from her gun hitting the middle of his chest before he could pull the trigger.
The paint exploded right above his heart, the impact pushing him back one step. The crazy woman used sex to distract him and hid the sound of her movements.
She laughed with joy and the pure sound chased away his fury. How could he be mad at her when she was the most perfect woman ever? And they had eternity together.
Cheers erupted around them, her team celebrating the win, but he was focused on her. And only on her. How could he lose when he had her in his life? As long as she was with him, loving him, he won. Even if it meant losing a game.
Still grinning, she glided to him, going on her toes and pressing her lips against his.
His hands wrapped around her back, her silky blonde locks caressing his skin. Running his tongue along the seam of her mouth, he asked for entrance.
Joy vibrated through her body. Her scent, like ripe peach, filled him and he struggled for control.
With his senses already on overdrive from the smell of blood, and her whispered promises, it took all his self control not to shove her against the tree and take her right there.
Her tongue ran along his fangs, vaguely reminding him of where they were, but he couldn’t just pull away.
“You’re killing me,” he muttered as his lips traveled down on her neck.
“You’re already dead,” she whispered.
He smiled into the kiss, loving how innocently ignorant he was of vampire culture, of who he was and what it meant to be born as a vampire. He’d never been alive, not as a human anyway. Which, of course, he kept from her to keep her safe.
“You’re mine,” she purred.
David wrapped his arms tightly around her and rested his forehead on hers. “Forever.”

The end justifies the means!😁
